An important milestone has been achieved by KAPE to begin sending vulnerable Cambodian youth to study at vocational training centers in Thailand. After reaching an agreement with the Office of Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education in Bangkok, KAPE has identified 12 students (7 female) who passed a recent examination organized by the Thai Ministry of Education in Kampong Cham. KAPE was provided with its own testing center because of its important work with vulnerable youth. The passing students will be attending a two-year course of study in Buriram Province in various subjects including Agriculture, Electronics, and Hotel Tourism. Pending agreement with the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport, these young people will start their studies in May 2014.

In coordination with KAPE, the Thai Government has provided these students with tutoring support to pass an entrance examination, free access to rooming facilities, and discounted tuition fees. KAPE, with support from the Oak Tree Foundation, will be providing a supplementary cash scholarship to cover tuition, food, transportation, and books. KAPE is also working with the Thai Government to sponsor more candidates to take the entrance exam for a full scholarship at a Thai University of their choice in Nursing and other topics. The Selection Examination will occur at the beginning of 2014; KAPE and the Thai Government will coordinate the provision of tutoring support for these candidates to take the examination.
