On 2-6 July 2025, the Happy Cambodian Children (HCC) project cooperates with the Children's Learning, Access to Support, and Sustainability (CLASS) project to organize the Staff Capacity Building on Mentoring, presided over by Mr. Sao Vann, KAPE’s Executive Director at Thun Thean Seksa (TTO). This capacity building takes 5 days to complete with 36 participants from both projects and aim to:
- Equip project staff with a foundational and advanced understanding of contemporary teaching methodologies.
- Build practical capacity in mentoring skills aligned with the HCC Mentoring Framework.
- Enhance staff’s ability to apply reflective teaching, multiple intelligences, lesson planning, and child-centered strategies such as Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL), Problem-Based Learning, Project-Based Learning, Discussions and Debates, Collaborative Group Work, in their mentorship support.
- Build capacity in educational research, ICT in education, and teaching methodologies relevant to HCC and CLASS projects, using technology (e.g., mentoring software, mobile devices) for remote mentoring and teacher support
- Provide capacity-building participants with the technique of teaching, how to integrate learning games into teaching hours and students assessment to improve teaching.
Mr. Sao Vanna, KAPE’s Executive Director, stated, “As education officers working with schools, we must excel in coordinating tasks, serving as role models, and providing guidance and advice to teachers. Additionally, we must continuously enhance our capabilities and engage in lifelong learning to evolve into skilled professionals, particularly in utilizing digital tools that can streamline our work and achieve the goals outlined in our projects.” He further emphasized that, although AI technology facilitates many tasks, it cannot fully replace human efforts. Therefore, we must use this technology responsibly to perform our duties effectively.
In this training session, all participants will gain a deeper understanding of key topics, including the use of communication tools, innovative teaching methods, mentoring and professional ethics. The training will strengthen their competencies, skills, knowledge, and new experiences, which are crucial for driving positive changes and sustainable development in the implementation of projects at target schools.
