Date : 2026-01-07

Phnom Penh — During a challenging period for the nation along the Cambodian-Thai border, the spirit of solidarity known as "Khmer Helping Khmer" has once again shone brightly. On the morning of January 6, 2026, Mr. Sao Vanna, Executive Director of Kampuchea Action to Promote Education (KAPE), led a delegation in collaboration with representatives from six New Generation Schools (NGS) to deliver a significant humanitarian donation to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS).
This humanitarian mission saw active participation from the leadership and representatives of key partner schools, including 1. Hun Sen Kampong Cham High School, 2. Hun Sen Anuwat Primary School, 3. Svay Prahout Primary School, 4. Kok Pring High School, 5. Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim Prek Anchanh High School and 6. Prek Leap High School.
During the handover ceremony, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport extended a warm welcome and expressed his deepest gratitude for the generous hearts of KAPE and the six New Generation Schools.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized with emotion that “This humanitarian action today serves as more than just a response to immediate needs; it is a powerful Message of Hope sent directly to our nation's defenders. While the situation on the frontline may be volatile and intense, the warmth and spirit of sharing within our education family remain steadfast and even stronger. These contributions stand as a testament that our teachers and students at the border are never forgotten—they remain in our hearts and are the absolute highest priority for us all.”
The supplies handed over to the Ministry for distribution to the affected areas included essential food items and educational materials for children, detailed as follows:
The Cash Fund: 15,000,000 Riel (Fifteen Million Riel), Food Supplies including 200 cans of Dried Shredded Pork (Pork Floss), 20 cases of Instant Noodles, 1,500 sachets of Instant Coffee, and 800 skewers of Smoked Fish. Educational Game Kits for Children including: 10 sets of Early Childhood Kits, 10 sets of Grade 1 Kits, 10 sets of Grade 2 Kits, 5 sets of Grade 3 Kits, 5 sets of Grade 4 Kits, 5 sets of Grade 5 Kits, and 5 sets of Grade 6 Kits.
The total value of the donated goods and funds amounted to 24,465,800 Riel (Twenty-four million, four hundred sixty-five thousand, eight hundred Riel).
These humanitarian gifts from KAPE and the New Generation Schools serve not only as primary relief but also as a powerful symbol of national unity. This action demonstrates full support for the frontline troops who are bravely defending the nation's territorial integrity against foreign aggression. Furthermore, it provides crucial encouragement and relief to Cambodian citizens—especially teachers, education staff, and young children—who have been forced to flee their homes for temporary shelters due to the impacts of the conflict.
