A one-day Retreat on future planning for the New Generation School Reform of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport was concluded in Kep Province on 30 May 2017. This Retreat was led by H.E. Hang Chuon Naron and facilitated by KAPE’s NGS Section. In addition to attendance by the senior leadership of the Ministry including H.E. Im Koich, H.E. Put Samit, and H.E. Lao Chao Vanna, the Retreat also included the attendance of department heads from the Primary Education Dept., Secondary Education Dept, Finance Dept. ICT Dept, as well as all members of the New Generation School Oversight Board. Key development partners also attended this event including Mr. Simon Franks, Director of the Franks Family Foundation and Mr. Prashant Verma, Director of Child Fund/Australia. Both agencies have invested heavily in this reform in parallel with significant investment by MoEYS.  MoEYS organised and funded the retreat while KAPE was tasked by Ministry to organise the program and help facilitate key presentations on NGS issues to bring this key educational reform forward. KAPE was greatly honoured by the high trust and faith that MoEYS put in KAPE for this event, which led to some key decision-making by the Ministry. This included agreement to expand the program to a total of 10 schools during the next two-year period as well as articulating an evolving vision for New Generation Schools. The Retreat affirmed once again the Ministry’s full commitment to this reform and the key role that will KAPE will play in assisting the Ministry to realise its vision for New Generation Schools.
