On July 8, 2024, KAPE visited Rangsit University (RSU) in Bangkok, Thailand, after a university representative visited Cambodia to study the New Generation School Initiative (NGSI) and programs. The visit aimed to establish practical cooperation between the two institutions, leading to the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a special project to actively promote knowledge exchange.

The discussion was focused on a number of key areas for future collaboration:

  • Scholarships and capacity building for NGS:

RSU Scholarships for NGS Students: This initiative will provide NGS graduates with the opportunity to pursue higher education at RSU, promoting excellence and international openness.

Capacity building for NGS teachers: RSU will provide online training workshops or courses for NGS teachers in Cambodia, focusing on innovative pedagogy, curriculum development in line with NGS principles such as STEM education and 21st century skills.

Student-Oriented Counseling Program: RS University with experience in mentoring teacher can enhance the experience of NGS teachers through online mentoring, virtual workshops or short visits to Cambodia.

  • Collaborative Research: KAPE and RSU will collaborate on research projects, exchange researchers as speakers, share educational experiences with each other, and participate in conferences. Research topics may relate to the application of innovative teaching methods, technologies in education or the challenges that Cambodian schools face with discoveries that may contribute to the New Generation Pedagogical Research Center. RSU is a leading private university in Thailand, accredited by the Thai government and scores very good quality. Renowned for its academic excellence and international teaching standards, RSU offers a wide range of programs across various colleges as follows:

  • Faculty of Architecture
    • Faculty of Dentistry
    • Faculty of Medicine
    • Faculty of Communication Arts
    • Faculty of Engineering
    • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and others.

RSU was established in 1986 on a 47-hectare site with 19 large buildings and currently has about 30,000 students. The university campus is large and consists of modern equipment and all resources such as hospitals, factories, demonstration high schools and places that encourage students to be creative and practical learning.

The partnership between KAPE and RSU has been strengthened and has great potential to contribute to the growth of education in Cambodia.
