On 3 March, the first 6 scholars (4 girls) studying for an Associate’s Degree at the Buriram College of Agriculture and Technology (BCAT) received their degrees in Hotel and Services and Agriculture Industry at a Graduation Ceremony at the college. These are the first graduates of KAPE’s program to promote study opportunities for Cambodian youth in high quality institutions outside of Cambodia. Another 3 students will receive their degrees in Electronics and Accounting at the end of March and another two studying Architecture will receive degrees in October 2016. This scholarship program has been made possible through generous support from the Oaktree Foundation and tuition scholarships from the Royal Thai Government, which were negotiated with KAPE advocacy. KAPE is now negotiating with the Thai Government to assist these graduates to study for their Bachelor’s Degree while another 5 new scholars will be admitted to BCAT this year with support from a new Australian donor called 100Women.
